Samodiva

Bronze - H70 x W18 x D39cm

Samodiva explores the feeling of shedding self-consciousness and stepping into the experience of being in a female body from the inside; how it moves, what it can do and how it feels through the senses.

Immersing the body in the natural world means exposure to the elements: cold, warmth, wind and rain. Samodiva dances nude in the forest, her senses are alive. She is open to the primal experience of how her body is moving and feeling in the moment.

The name Samodiva meaning Samo (alone) and diva (wild and divine)  is drawn from the artist’s Balkan ancestry. Both feared and revered, these Samodivi from Balkan folklore are seen as protectors of the natural world.
